...ist hundertprozentiger Michael Moore, lustig und pathetisch, brisant und ironisch clownesk. Aufrüttelnd und manipulativ jongliert er als Erzählonkel zwischen abstrakten Facts and Figures und konkreten Tränen von Betroffenen. In seinem Visier ist das auf Profit statt Hilfe und nicht nach dem Prinzip des solidarischen Ausgleichs ausgerichtete amerikanische Gesundheitssystem. Der Filmer spiegelt es an den angeblich paradiesischen Zuständen in Kanada, England, Frankreich und - ausgerechnet - Kuba. Natürlich anfechtbar in der ironischen Verkürzung, aber sehr ernsthaft in der Stossrichtung, ist Moores Film in Cannes gut aufgenommen worden - ausser Konkurrenz... (Neue Zürcher Zeitung)
