This film is critical of widespread use of "cheap energy" policies especially in the transportation sector and argues that technological fixes such as biofuels and hydrogen are infeasible. According to the film, a major reorganization of urban land use is needed to decrease transportation; also, some aspects of the global economy will have to be rolled back, such as long-distance shipping of food. ...Diese Frage wurde hier schon diskutiert und dazu passt sehr gut der Dokumentarfilm "The End of Suburbia". Er stammt aus Kanada, handelt speziell von der Situation in den USA, geht aber uns alle an (Spieldauer 78 Minuten). "The End of Suburbia" (...) handelt von der Verknappung von Gas und Öl und spannt dabei den Bogen vom Beginn der Industrialisierung bis heute (auch Irak-Krieg) und weiter in die Zukunft (auch: wie die Menschen weiter leben können). Es kommen einige Experten zu Wort, darunter Dr. J. Colin Campbell, einer der angesehensten Geologen aus der Erdöl-Branche... (Forum Tagesschau)
