Embriagador documental cuya bellísima coda nos muestra al griot enfilando la corriente de un río con una canoa, mientras la cámara se va elevando poco a poco hasta alcanzar la visión del inmenso mar.
En ese momento uno no puede sino recordar a Jorge Manrique cuando en la famosa "Copla por la muerte de su padre" escribe: "Nuestras vidas son los ríos que van a dar a la mar que es el morir."

...is a film about mother earth. The makers of Microcosmos and Winged Migration continue their theme in Genesis, showing beautifully shot images of the worlds creatures.
Genesis paints a picture of how the world was created, and what creatures live on it now. The images are dazzling, as with the pairs other films. Images include The Galapagos Islands, Madagascar and Iceland. Many of the animals are shown in amazing detail. Allowing one to see what would normally be missed.

Although the images are expertly edited, Genesis lacks the 'wow' scenes that make Microcosmos and Winged Migration so great. A narrative is provided, with subtitles. An African elder describes the history of the world through its various stages. There are many assuming scenes, as in Microcosmos, making Genesis equally as appealing and suitable for children.

Vor einem halben Jahrhundert demonstrierte Walt Disney: "Die Wüste lebt". Nun ist es an der Zeit dem Wunder des Lebens selbst einen Film zu widmen. "Genesis" ist die Geschichte vom großen Ganzen, von Materie, Atomen, der Zeit, Liebe, Geburt, Leben und Tod. In der bildreichen Sprache der Mythen und Märchen erzählt ein afrikanischer Schamane (Sotigui Kouyaté) von der Geburt unseres Universums, von den vulkanischen Anfängen unseres Planeten und dem ersten Leben auf der Erde. ‚Genesis' bedeutet Ursprung und ist auch der Titel des ersten Buches der Bibel, welches die gesamte Schöpfung als Werk Gottes darstellt.

Der Film ist das Projekt der begeisterten Biologen und Tüftler Claude Nuridsany und Marie Pérennou. "Mikrokosmos", ihr erster Kinofilm, hatte 1996 seine Weltpremiere in der Offiziellen Auswahl des Filmfestivals von Cannes. (...)
